March is maple syrup time. This is the last weekend for the Lake County Forest Preserve District Maple Syrup Hikes at Ryerson Conservation Area in Riverwood. On these one-hour hikes, learn how trees work and about the sweet sap of sugar maples. Everyone gets a taste. Hikes begin every half-hour. Please dress for the weather, as this program is outdoors. Cost is $6 per person. Registration in advance is required.
Hikes are on Saturday and Sunday, March 16 and 17. Times are 12:30, 1, 1:30, 2 and 2:30 p.m.
Please note: If you are registering a group of friends, large family or other informal group, we recommend you register by telephone to ensure there are enough open seats at your preferred date and time to accommodate all of you. Special dates and times are set aside for Scouts and other organized groups. Please call 847-968-3321.
